1100ml (2x550ml) Original Rene Caisse 4 Herb Decoction
Rene Caisse recipe teas are far from equal, Rene Caisse named her decoction Essiac and went on record saying that it "must contain fresh Sheep Sorrel root or it is no good". Google "buy sheep sorrel root" and you will see that it is just not available, only stem and leaf is. Unfortunately, there are no commercial growers in North America or Europe who harvest whole-plant Sheep sorrel, they don't want to spend the time and expense to re sow the plant as the root is very slow to grow. It takes at least 2 years to develop any amount of root worth collecting.
I discovered this when first making Rene Caisse Tea for my then 3 year old son. (He is 15 now:) this is why I grow my own here in sunny Devon. It must be dug up with a mattock together with a large clump of soil and other weeds, the soil must be pressure washed off to free the roots, then chopped in a commercial vitamix as the root is very tough indeed. Interestingly it is the same colour as turmeric when first harvested but turns brown after 24 hours (see our photographs)
My organic herbal decoction is brewed in 5 litre batches using only aquasana quad filtered, then steam distilled water that is made by us and certified organic herbs with my own sheep sorrel leaf, stem and most importantly dried and fresh root. It contains nothing more, no preservatives of any kind. It has not been x rayed by security at the airport when arriving into the U.K. unlike Rene Caisse tea from other countries. Canadian nurse Rene Caisse perfected and refined an original native Canadian recipe. Through trial and error the tea was reduced to 4 herbs which must be prepared exactly to the original formula: Chopped Burdock Root, Slippery Elm Inner Bark powder, powdered Sheep Sorrel leaves, stems and berries (which are on the plant only in June) chopped fresh Sheep sorrel root and powdered Turkey Rhubarb root. She named the formula Essiac, It has been used for over 100 years.
All the equipment I use is stainless steel, it is steam sterilised together with the bottles and lids to ensure the product stays fresh for as long as possible. The bottles are filled while the decoction is hot and to the very top so that there is no air in the bottle whatsoever once sealed.
Ask yourself, do other sellers go to all this trouble? if so, why do the labels on their decoctions not state that they contain Sheep sorrel root and aerial parts with berries?
Full written instructions are sent with every order. Bottled in sterilised food grade U.V. protective glass bottles with tamper evident lids. All our packaging is compostable, recyclable or reusable.
