Ashwagandha is a very versatile yellow flowered oval leaved herb traditionally grown in India, Africa and the middle east. Ashwagandha is a relative of the tomato and produces small red fruits but are the size of a grape. This powerful herb can lower the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and consequentially inflammation in the body.

Ashwagandha is from traditional Ayurvedic medicine and can be used after an operation to boost the immune system. There is also a lot of increasing evidence that Ashwagandha can balance thyroid activity, menopausal changes and even reverse early stages of Alzheimer's.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb which means that it can help the body to adapt, adjust and recalibrate itself depending on our emotional and physical surroundings bringing the body into a normal state of homoeostasis and health.
